I'm pretty sure it's because these shots are uncorrected RAW. You can see the fisheye in the shot. The SEL1650 is fisheyed wider than 16mm, but corrects down to 16mm rectilinear.

Yes, that's almost certainly the case. I think it's cool that you can use it as a quasi-fisheye lens if desired.
