Shoulder strap ruins D-800

Assuming that the D800 plate is screwed into the bottom of the body, maybe the body points..

where it is screwed in were distorted by the force that caused the flex and a new plate couldn't be tightened down flat.  That would explain why nikon couldn't fix it.  It doesn't explain why the OP didn't get a response from Nikon on why the base plate couldn't be replaced.

It really makes you think about whether you want put your tripod across your should and carry it around with the camera attached.  I don't think that I'll do that in the future.
