I haven't seen any clear increase in corner noise with XZ-2 shots (but there aren't yet many good images available).

On the XZ-2, the noise is always present, even at low iso, and everywhere. I wouldn't mind if it was an organic and nice noise, but it feels a bit too digital too me, like very tiny jpg artifacts. Again, that's my personal feel, you should check it out to see what you think of it.

On this side, I definitely prefer the RX100 noise. I haven't noticed more noise in the corners. About the soft corners, that's because at 28mm the camera fixes distortion and vignetting. However your Raw file can be opened without these lens corrections. Lightroom keeps the in-camera fixes, but Raw Therapee and Capture One don't. So if you want to get better image quality at the corners, you can, but you'll get heavy distortion (which I sometimes like, so I don't mind).
