First rule of graphics file manipulation that I learned was not to overwrite...(more)

the original file (whatever format). BTW, I've been manipulating graphics files for reports, technical papers, presentations, etc. since the birth of Photoshop and other graphic programs (there were a number about 20-25 years ago). So if one has jpg or other format file, a processed file should be renamed; thus, when one needs to go back again, there is the available original file.
