Dumb or what?
We learn that Panasonic US have decided to clear their existing stock of GH2s with 14-42 kit lens by dumping them on Amazon at 499 USD before state sales taxes. Presumably this is due to the pending launch of the GH3.
So what do we find happening in Europe? Nothing similar at all.
The best price for the GH2 with 14-42mm kit lens in the UK is currently around 588 GBP. Remove the 20% VAT and that nets out at about 490 GBP.
So the British consumer is being asked to pay 1 GBP for what the American consumer gets for 1 USD at a time when the exchange rate is roughly 1 GBP = 1.6 USD.
So, how about offering those of us who have been good customers in the UK the same fire sale as you are offering in the US?
We are worth it, honestly. I would seriously consider adding a second GH2 body at the current US price level while declining, ever so politely, to pay the current UK launch price for the GH3.
Wake up please Panasonic UK!
