I am using the RX100 for street photography and find af fast and snappy enough as long as the lens is set to wide angle (28mm equiv) with af set to center point in AFS mode (AF-C slows it down) and continuous shooting mode, image review turned off. fast toddlers are always a challenge to shoot, even with dslr's, i think the RX100 can handle it
