There's the 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 VR (VR=IS) which is certainly a good lens up to 200 and a little softer afterwards.

Then, there's a newly announced 70-200 f/4 which should hit the stores shortly. No detailed review is available yet.

That's it for the "new" i.e AF-S lenses ... Older AF lenses exist, those will only be available used though.

I'd be interested in AF lenses, too, not just AF-S.

Nikon's 70-210mm f/4-5.6 is a very nice lens that's recommended by several 'pros'. There are two versions, AF and AF-D. The 'D' version focuses much faster and supplies distance information to the DSLR. B&H often has both of these but I just checked and none are currently in stock. When they are, the AF-D version usually sells for from $180 to $190 and the AF version for about 1/2 of that.

KEH has several of those in stock.

Layer 3: Use Lane position (Discourage other drivers mistakes)
Layer 4: Hazard Avoidance (Avoid other drivers mistakes and road hazards)
Layer 5: Utilize passive protection (Use protection when all else fails)
