Well, then the comparison is sort of a joke, isn't it?

The first picture shows about the same sharpness but visible less contrast for the sigma.

The second with the 50 wide open (1.5 stops more than the Sigma!) shows some corner unsharpness with the 50, but this is of course meaningless.

The biggest difference in those lens IMHO is the rendering. The SEL50F18 IMHO has a smooth and nice bokeh rendering with high clarity in the center of the picture. The bokeh of the Sigma lenses leans more to that of zoom lenses.

If you want a 30-35mm lens with AF for Nex, you don't have much choices except the Sigma.

If you can live with 50mm, go for it. If not, you can also wait for the 35F18 if you can afford it.
