What happened to the "thumbs down"?

Not true.

Read the explanation of using the thumb icon again.

The 'Vote' is not a 'vote' any longer.

The purpose of the 'thumb' column is to indicate whether or not the content of the post was helpful to readers , and if so how many readers found it helpful.

This does not mean they liked the thread or disliked it - just that it was helpful.

Unfortunately a lot of viewers are still using the 'thumb' column to 'vote' that they like the post even though that is not the correct use of it (for example I wonder what the person who voted your post 'helpful' found so helpful in a post with no content )

(Note: There are even going to be occasions, I'm sure, when someone will find a post they don't like but will still find it's content helpful.)
