Pro DX is Dead

Give it a few months ...

I think the process is unfolding: first the D3200, then the D5200 with 24Mp sensors.  The next logical step will be the D400 / D8000 Pro DX camera :-).  The D600 is an entry level FX, so why another one as somebody above speculated?  The D300 is not an entry level camera and its successor wil be at the same pro level, but with some improvements seen on the D800 - in the same way as the D300 and D700 shared functionality.  Why would Nikon let Canon get away with the Pro DX market?  I do not think so.
