I have Canon D500 SLR camera with standard 17 to 55 mm lense, I wanted to buy additional lense, which one experts suggest 55-200mm F4.5-5.6, or 75-300mm F4-5.6. I am also interested in close up pictures of flowers and insects, Suggest please, Shanti Kumar Chiluka

Canon has two 75-300 lenses, I would not recommended either of them.

- EF 75-300 f/4-5.6 III (or III USM) is an old design, not particularly sharp at the long end, and does not have image stabilization.

- EF 75-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM is also an old design.  Canon's first IS lens, not as sharp as the current offerings.

Canon's 70-300 zooms, and the EF-S 55-250, are much better and preferred.

EF-S 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS - far and away the best value in the segment.

EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM

EF 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM

EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS USM
