On page 109 of the manual there is mention of a Super FP flash but for the life of me I cannot find anything describing what it is or how to use it.

Can anyone here explain what it is & how to use it.

The wood is clear between the knots.

The first two responders pretty much told you the story. Outside for fill-in when a shutter speed higher than the normal highest sync speed is required. Not all of the flash units support Super FP since it requires more power. The FL600R, FL36R and FL50R flash units do support it.

You turn Super FP on, on the flash unit. The one way you can turn Super FP mode on via the body is if you are working wirelessly in the RC mode.
