How important is having the same system as your shooting partner?

Yeah, it's very simplistic in nature at this point--but I'm currently making a budget, projecting revenue and expenses, and trying to figure out how many projects I'll need to do to "break even" where equipment is concerned within a certain period of time.

On a side note, I also have a stake in a company that does events organising and graphic design, so there are chances for work coming in through there as well.
