i bought the sx50 to use when my d7000 and 70-300mm vr ran out of reach.

compared to even a dated dslr the sx50 just will not compare. it is a rather unpleasant photographic experience!

shutter lag, CA, fringing, poor EVF, poor screen, overcrowded control cluster, poor battery life, unreliable focusing that you will not see on the EVF or screen. failure to attain a good shutter speed at long zoom and cheap feel to the buttons all add up to make this camera a rather poor relation to a dslr.

save yourself a lot of frustration, time and effort and save for a used, warranted dslr body.

it may be a step up from a compact, or earlier bridge camera, but it is a big step down from even an aged dslr.

No one compared it to a DSLR, old or new.  I presume you will be moving on then?
