Re: Telephoto Recommendations for A99

How about the Minolta AF 28-135mm F/4-4.5 Macro (Secret Handshake)?  I't makes the humble F4 Beercan look what it really is  .  .  just an over-rated lens that suffers with CA and isn't that sharp.  The SH is immensely sharp and is as good as any G grade lens optically.  It is arguably the best lens of it's type within the short zoom focal range and unless you've used one, you won't understand how much better to the old clunker Beercan it is.

It's one of THE best Minolta lenses (bar none), and because it's so good, it still commands a premium price, but you get what you pay for, so there's no point buying cheap as you'll just be disappointed and will be buying/selling until you finally get the point.

And yes, I've owned the Beercan and a dozen other Minolta lenses, ad there are only a few that 'cut the mustard'.  Add a Sigma 100-300/4 to it, and you get a wonderful overlap from short zoom to telephoto and you also get superb IQ from 28-300mm.  Job done.
