Re: Why not a 24-105 II ?

I am really wondering if we need a 24-70 IS at that price. I am mainly a prime shooter, but if I would take a f/4 zoom with me, it would be to go (travel) light and then I want a decent one lens solution. I have been using the 24-105 f/4 L for a few years for this purpose and find the focal length range to be perfect. Most of my images with this lens are either taken at 24mm or 105mm. So to me a quality updated 24-105 f/4 IS L II would have made more sense!

It has to be much harder to maintain top image quality with such a wide range to cover. I'd rather a well done 24-70 + 70-200/300 than a mediocre 24-105 range.
