Since the US economy is set for another hit, while employed, someday I might not be, and I may want to team up with my wife who is already doing a pretty decent wedding cake business. I really can't spend much money, but it would be useful to know what are the absolute essentials given a cropped camera.

Thanks.

min - two bodies, 60d + T4i - note - I carry three (5dc)

two flash min - 580exii as one of them - i carry two additional 550's - learn off camera flash

on the wide end - 15-85 IS which is only 1/2 stop slower than the 17-55 on the wide end but much more flexible for range and 4 stop IS

50 f1.4 or 50 f1.8 - I carry both since I have FF and crop (shallow dof head shots)

100L - bokeh -- 4 stop IS is amazing - still life, macros, and portraits

70-200  - I carry F2.8 non is L and a light monopod - ceremony lens

the above gear doesn't need tripod

think backup and power (batteries, cards, etc).  I have tamy 28-75, 18-55 is, etc

and I use fisheye toki 10-17 - setting the scene

you need at least 8-9 k ante and skills -- to have adequate coverage.
