Since the US economy is set for another hit, while employed, someday I might not be, and I may want to team up with my wife who is already doing a pretty decent wedding cake business. I really can't spend much money, but it would be useful to know what are the absolute essentials given a cropped camera.

Thanks.

24-105mm f/4L IS USM is my weapon of choice.  Then I will also be armed with a 50mm f/1.4 USM for portrait shots or instances when I can get close to the bridge or groom and "isolate" them from the crowd.  Plus a cheap EF-S 55-250mm IS in case I need to take longer shots with decent bokeh (slower to focus but on my 7D that is not a problem).

Happy shooting!
