I agree with you that having a micro 4/3rd sensor would not be a viable solution for a compact fixed lens with any kind of usable focal length. But I’m sure that a camera could be made with a 2/3 - 1/1.2" sensor and still have a good 5 - 7x zoom for people who don’t care about or want to put it in their shirt or pants pockets. I have no problem with the size of the old Pro1, I carry my camera in a watertight fanny pack when kayaking, biking, boating, fishing, hiking, etc… All I am really looking for is a highly efficient 12MP 2-2.5um pixel senor that gives great IQ with low noise at ISO1600 (or lower) with very sharp images.

I think camera companies are simply protecting their sales of DSLR/SLT’s and all of those expensive lenses and accessories that come with them. That is probably why Canon stopped at the Pro1 and never made a Pro2
