No,it does not overheat. I own one.

And there were a lot of people tested already and reported here. Probably you can search it.

I just shot 29.5 minutes of video last night on my original Nex-5, purchased soon after the release.     I had the LCD pulled-out (shooting from the waist).  It was very warm after a while.  Now, I HAVE had it over heat in the past, particularly when I was outdoors in the heat already using the camera for a couple of hours.  If it matters, I now also use a Sony memory stick.
