Opting for desktop over laptop

Out of curiosity - Have you tried to convert the original image to dng using Adobe's DNG converter and then load that dng file? Perhaps it is an issue related to LR4? And why is Portrait Professional charging more for a 64 bit version than a 32 bit version?

I did not know that you could buy a Windows machine with 24GB of RAW. Must be a desktop since I only use laptops and have never seen a laptop with more than 16GB. Makes my mouth water ...

Thanks for the reply. Same result using the DNG converter and bypassing Lightroom 4.

I have never used a laptop for high-powered photo editing; I'm sticking with a desktop. Though I configured my new PC with 24GB or RAM (3 x 8GB DIMM), I may still fill that empty fourth slot with another 8GB at some point to bring RAM up to 32GB. Good for Photoshop when I'm making giant wall-sized panos.
