Whew, sounds like i am safe for now with my 10TB raid.

I used to be a big fan of Raid 0+1.    Until I discovered that more drives  increase your chances of one of them going down.   say in a 0+1  4 drives  vs 1 drive + 1 external back up.  Now with Win 8 it is simpler to mirror that back up.  (I also like the ability to shut down and isolate the external)

Do not want to sound toooo  negative about raids,  because I know probably all large biz are using them.  but they also have a high level of redundancy (& hot swap) ... and they might even replace them totally every 18 mo. like clockwork.  something I would probably not do.

although my rotation is about 3 years.   Looks like it will be a lot sooner with my 3TB XT drives.
