Go over to dyxum and you will get many more user reviews of both lenses.

The Tamron thread is here and the Sony here.

Many more positive reviews for the G than the Tamron and the SLR gear test of the Tamron tends to bare out the comments at dyxum in that at the long end the test here  shows you have to stop it down to F8 and F11 to get a sharp result at 300mm.

That is important because you do find yourself shooing at F5.6 a lot given they are both F5.6 lenses ad the G is clearly better here.  As it should be given the price!

The G also has a focus limiter which is a nice feature and the Tamron doesn't.

These days the full price of the G is scary but based on the above feedback I am not sure the Tamron is a match for it.
