VR 35mm to match Cannon?
Nikon and Canon do different things at different times.
Nikon refreshed the 16-35 to a constant aperture f4 VR before Canon refreshed the 35mm f2. So - zoom v prime and f2 v f4 - each company has one but not both options covered.
Nikon will update the remainder of their old prime designs - though for some optics patience might be a virtue. In FX I make it 1 fisheye, 4 wide angle, 1 macro, 4 telephoto and the 80-400 VR, plus perhaps the missing 400 f5.6 that Canon have, to go.
For what it is worth Canon have just started "catch up Nikon" with the first Canon pinch type lens cap on the new 35mm f2.
Many problems turn out to be a lack of intimate knowledge of complex modern camera equipment.
