I am surprised for all your complaining you haven't noticed the G lens at the top of the only Sony lens chart we have to date that has been posted a thousand times on this forum. To be announced sometime in 2013.

That G walkaround zoom was supposed to be delivered in 2011-2012, according to the roadmap of 2010. Fact is, after 2 years with NEX cameras (I had the 5, C3 and now 5N) there is no high quality walkaround zoom. This was not what Sony promised and it is most frustrating. one of most crappy lenses in recent history of photography, and yet there are immediately scuffling swarms of avid defenders, awkwardly trying to untarnish its reputation - something perhaps impossible to do if one would stick to a honest set of criteria

at the same time any attempt of asking for a non-existing, and ever-vanishing G-class line leads in reply to a repetition of vague S's promises - why that would be?

Is the fact that the 16-50 is being peddled as a kit lens can serve as an excuse? Don't we no longer remember excellent kit lenses from a yesteryear: Zuikos? Takumars? Rokkors? Hexanons?

It's funny that even wondering about its IQ due to obviously big optical compromises was taken by some as a blasphemy. See
