What you've done in your post is to perfectly summarize the whole reason for M4/3.  The practicality just trumps the advantages of the larger can carry these things around anywhere, so you get more shots, you can hike further, travel easier, intimidate subjects less.  And as techno advances continue, the sensor size will matter less and less.

I just hope our two source companies can stay in business.  gp
