Does Nikon have affordable, non- f/2.8 FX 70-200 lenses?

I agree with previous post the 80-200 2.8 AF-d i used to own produced superb images i quite often regret selling it to buy the 70-200vr1 thinking i was getting a better lens but i sometimes think the 80-200 produced sharper nicer looking images.
