The sensor is obvious. Most meaningful to me:

D5200 is smaller with articulating LCD

D7000 has pentaprism VF and more direct controls.

(D7000 also can focus older lenses w/o focus motors, if that matters to you).

I don't think I'd be happy with the D5200 as a primary camera, but if it can do back button AF, it might make a great backup/travel camera. (It's too expensive for that, but the D5100 at under $500 right now looks like a steal.)
