GH2 Frame Counter - Odd Behavior

I just returned from a photo expedition during which the frame counter on my relatively new GH2 passed the 1000 mark.  In reviewing my images today I noticed that the image numbers went from _1000999 to _1010001, and proceeded from there, the next image being _1010002 and so on.

So it  made a jump of 9,002 and now appears as if I have taken more than 10,000 pictures.  I looked in the menu but the only option is to reset the counter, which I assume sets it back to zero (or _1000000).  What will it do the next time it crosses 1000 pictures, jump to 20,000?

Has anyone else seen this behavior?  I find this rather distressing because if I ever want to sell the camera the frame count won't be accurate and I'll have to convince prospective buyers that the count is too high and that the frame counter is malfunctioning, which will probably discourage buyers and lower the amount I can get for it.  In effect it pretty well eliminates me from the used camera market.

Any ideas or suggestions very much appreciated.
