I thought the EVF components themselves were identical between the A77 and A99 and this was in fact a source of disappointment to some as they expected yet another iteration of improvement?

If they are the same bits of electronics I can't see how they would look that different.  It would be rather disturbing if they did because wouldn't that mean one of the two cameras was giving a false image as they are supposed to deliver a wysiwyg view?
