Re: SONY R1 still attractive ?

The R1 is a classic. It taught me everything I know about photography. I bought it thinking "this is way too much camera for me" and it probably was (is). After 6 years of constant use, it finally gave up. I was on holiday at the time with the wife and kids at DisneyWorld in Hong Kong - so for fear of getting no photos, my wife said buy anything you want. To cut a long story short I went from the 5d2 to the 5d3 in quick succession. I'm very happy in DSLR land but won't forget the R1. I'm planning on repairing it soon. Its lens may be non interchangeable, but it really is spectacular. I'm not sure that I'll ever do it justice.

Here are a few pics that explain why I like using it...

Took the R1 into knee deep water for this sunset

My wife, but the camera is the star

I've lost count of the number of photos I have of this tree

In my view, this is quintessentially Scotland. This R1 pic has made me a small fortune on the stock photo sites. Actually, it probably more than paid for the camera.

It's a great landscape camera

I love the colours it's capable of producing

It does kids too...

Good luck with your purchase....I hope you make the right decision.
