A very good combo is Lightroom and Elements. However, I wouldn't underestimate Elements by itself either. Just depends on how in-depth or specific your needs are. Elements supports layers and Lightroom doesn't. For most photos, I use Lightroom but when I need to make more adjustment and pixel edits and layers, I then "edit in" Elements. Also, my Topaz plugins work in Elements but not directly in Lightroom. However, Topaz offers a linking program that allows access to the plugins without loading Elements. Haven't tried it yet.
