Re: Panasonic Financial Health

With regard to the digital cameras, every manufacturer is experiencing significant losses in the P&S segment due to smartphones. Compact cameras will not survive this onslaught,  the enthusiast compact segment might survive, but right now Sony is probably killing the competition in that segment with the RX100. And since all others have quite recently announced their inferior models (except Canon maybe, but I wonder if it could be called compact), Sony will dominate the enthusiast segment for quite a while, and they are obviously not sleeping while the others catch up.

With regard to Panasonic, their market share in the CSC segment has dropped significantly, at least in Japan for sure, but I guess a similar thing happened world wide. Oly seems to hold both the top and lower segments, and in the middle the G3 and G5 are probably hard pressed by Sony's Nexs and poor Panasonic marketing. And the upcoming Pens with the EM-5 sensor will not improve the situation for Panasonic.
