Yeah thanks for the reminder, I think most people realized that F4 is not F2.8 already, you might be the one didn't realize a sharp, smaller, lighter F4 70-200 is exactly what some people want. myself included, I pre-ordered one already the same night the announcement came out. I shoot with both platform and currently own the 70-200 F2.8 IS MK 2 on the Canon side and use it as my main event shooting lens on my 1DS MK III, and previously also own the F4 version and I have been waiting for this exact Nikon version for my D800E for my hiking and backpacking trips, where I won't even shoot F4 for the most part, may be F8-F11 on tripod 99 % of the time. I think we all know F4 is slow, by the way, to me F2.8 is also very slow, I would rather use primes such as 24 1.4 35 1.4, 50 1.2, 85 1.2, 1305 f2 200 f2 when fast lens is required.
