The Sony RX100 does indeed rule the roost but mainly for it`s specs . In actual use it lacks the 24mm wide lens that the Panasonic LX series have and it`s rather slow at the tele end just to mention a couple of things. There are a few more too.

That said, Sony definitely  took the industry by surprise. The RX100 charts new territory in this segment and the rest will be trying to play catchup for some time to come

"But" the question was:  "What makes the LX series so good?" and NOT what camera rules the roost.
