I think that sentence pretty much sums it up. For good or bad, the market determines the products, not the other way around. I don't know if that's the case. The percentage fir whom that would be accurate are more "mature" in their skills and don't want varifocaks.

I suspect he observation about studio photographer's preferring a lighter lens will have more of an influence.

But I've got no marketing to back that up.
