Canon 100-400 or 300 f/4 IS???

Agree about faster shutter speed and monopod!

I also was reluctant about the 400 not having IS, but so far I haven't had one picture from it that was lost because of blur movement.

In any event, I usually have the camera on a mono pod or tripod. Although, one of my better shots was with the Bigma handheld (with the tripod dangling beneath it) using IS.



There was no place to plant the tripod and the opportunity was over in less than 20 seconds, but generally my pictures benefit from using a support or a fast shutter speed.
