Single point auto focus

If I understand this right...single point auto focus is automatically selected when shooting in manual mode on my D7000. How good is this if I want to capture a moving image in manual mode?
Yes, AF-Area mode is set to "single" when you select "M" on the AF/M lever of the camera and go into manual focus. How good it is depends entirely on your ability to manual focus and track the subject as the camera no longer has input into it. The only thing you might get is the focus indicator display in the viewfinder but your ability will affect that also. Having "9pt" available in focus mode would not affect things in any way regards your ability to focus manually.
Does'nt BILLY 0F THE NORTH say shooting in manual mode and not manual focus.Or am i reading it wrong.
