There are factors other than IQ to consider.
What about speed of operation? Faster focusing? Better shot-to-shot?
And overall handling? What are the ergonomics like?
Other features, such as battery life, viewfinder, LCD readability in bright sunlight, etc.?
All of these are important. What are your opinions?
Rick
Rick of course they are important as well, but they all pale into significance if the IQ is not there, im not say that the IQ is not, but for me i dont see any better IQ than my G12, overall slighter faster lens and the new sensor has not be overwhelming. It all depends what you seek in a camera IQ is important to me, not how many pixels the LCD have or if its articulating i just have not be blown away with my G15, i wait to do more testing in good light, i give it how i see it wether folk like it or not, i try to say how it is for real.
I'm actually on the other side of the fence. I've recently upgraded to the G15 over the G11 and I've been very impressed with the improved image quality of the G15 finding more detail in the CMOS 12 megapixel vs the G11's 10. The JPEG's out of the camera only needing a little level adjustments for me. Calling the lens,"slightly faster" is a bit surprising for me as at maximum focal length the G15 is at 2.8 vs the G12's 4.5. Also, unless you look through the optical viewfinder, you're composing your photos using the LCD screen and the G15's is much more pleasing being bigger and having a higher resolution than G12's. AF is also faster and the in focus keeper rate is much better than my G11. But in the end, all that matters is if your happy with the camera or not. Myself, I'm pleased I sold my G11 and put that money toward the G15.
