Re: D600 owners SURVEY : what was your previous camera ??

Moved from a D200.  I did look at the D800, but I decided I wanted to put my money into new lens instead, since even on D200 this was more critical purchase.   Sold my Nikkor 17-55, Tokina 12-24 and Sigma 80-400 OS and  put my money into Nikkor 14-24, 24-70, and picked up Nikkor 70-200 mm VR2 again to finally replace my stolen VR1.    I did try the Nikkor 24-120 before picking up the 24-70mm,  just felt odd after shooting 17-55mm especially since I now I am shooting more indoor sports...

Have to say shooting the D600 with Nikkor 85 f1.4 d, Nikkor 105 f2 DC, and Sigma 150 mm f2.8 EX DG HSM APO all have been so much fun reshoot on full frame sensor- DOF control is amazing.

Even the 17-55 felt nice on the D600.  Fact that DX mode on D600 only shoots 10 Megapixel was a non issue to me since that is the  same resolution as my my D200.

Also I thought about it,  to me the D800 parallel the D300/D3 as being great cameras but D800 felt rushed to compete with Canon 5D Mk II, the quality issue kind show this was the case.  When the D800s come out in few years  I will pick it up,  which like D300s and D3s incredible refinements to already legendary cameras.   D600 looked like it had already learned number of lessons from D800 production. Also the D600 really ticked all boxes I was looking for as a good upgrade from the D200.

I have to say I love shooting again with just camera and lens especially when shooting at twilight,  it such a big freedom going from D200 to D600 and leaving behind bag of lighting equipment.
