Thanks.  The trick to good higher iso pics is keeping as much of the entire frame as possible.  But for most of my wildlife shots, that's impossible and I end up with heavy crops.  The guassian blur technique sounds good, but it's a lot of work.  I sometimes use the detail and ALT in LR so I try not to sharpen the background at all.  I have mixed results with that.

I'm really interested to see how the A99 does with heavy crops at higher isos. If it does really well, I'm going to have a hard time avoiding buying it.
