On Win 7.

I suggest that you try Process Lasso "Automatically optimize your processes, cores, and power consumption. Keep disruptive processes in check!".

I use it to manage 12 GB of memory on an i7 920 Dell Studio XPS 435T/9000 Workstation while running:Vipre fore/background Security Scans, Lightroom 4.2, & Photoshop CS6 Extended .

With Process Lasso running, they all play nice together-- before, not so much:

  • Vipre bogged everything down, and
  • Lightroom & Photoshop constantly fought with each other...

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate X64 SP2 so I can't speak to Windows 7 directly, but I think you could expect similar results.

I tried the free version from Giveaway of the Day and I liked it, then I got really lucky and GofD offered the Pro version for free!

I do rocommend the Pro version, but please try the free version first-- you'll get a good idea of it's usefulness from that.

In 32 years of experience with computers, this is the only Memory Management product that I have found to be of any use on 'modern' hardware.
