NEX-6 video mode: 50/60p vs 24p

Hi all,

When making video, I learned that "progressive" is better than "interlaced".

On NEX-6, for the video progressive mode, there are 3 modes:

1920 x 1080 (50/60p, at 28Mbps, PS)

1920 x 1080 (24p, at 24Mbps, FX)

1920 x 1080 (24p, at 17Mbps, FH)

I also learned that 50/60p is for fast action or sports video, while 24p is for that film/movie look.

Is that true?

What kind of "look" is that movie look?

I shoot video for home, home party, birthday and travelling.

24p mode should be enough?

And what's the affect of the "Mbps"?

Sometimes, these many modes and choices makes difficult for us, home amateur user. Why don't they make option like:

- Birthday party

- Sports

- Travels

Things like that

Thanks in advance for any explanation and information about the difference of these modes and especially when should we use what mode!
