Re: It's finally here... Nikon's AF-S 70-200mm f/4G ED VR !!!

Anyway, now I want Nikon to produce a small, pro-quality 35-70mm f4 VR "bridge" lens; that would make the perfect f4 trinity with the 16-35mm and this new 70-200mm. What a nice, light travel kit that would make!

Actaully, the missing piece in the trinity is not a 35-70, but remains a 120-300.

The 2.8 trinity goes 14-24, 24-70, and 70-200. no overlap

the 70-200 feels more like a "extra" lens in the f4 range. Far too much overlap with the 24-120 to let it feel like it was part of a 'trinity'. Ideally, a 120-300 would have made a more complete range offering.

In terms of sales, by going for such a big overlap with another recent lens, they are limiting their customer base. I dont see many people going to own both a 24-120 f4 and a 70-200 f4. They would have gotten more dual lens owners if they shifted the 70-200 range higher more. oh well.
