It will be interesting how the new model compares in real life against the two f2.8 versions when all are shot at f4. Also how it works with TC's wide open. The advantage of a f2.8 lens is that you have more flexibility wit TC and can still stop down for good results. Start at f4 and use a 20TC, your at f8 from the beginning, stop down and you're at f11 which doesn't work for me. If optically say the results wide open at f8 with the TC are close to the results of the older version stopped down to the same aperture then you have a winner. Otherwise unless weight is a big factor, the older VR I f2.8 version makes more sense at the same price point.
