Which lens for hidrohide photography?

Hi all,

I have been seeing some amazing images of birds made with hidrohide technique (you know, those floating hides that are usually made in the garage...). As I have a very good spot available nearby where I live, I am starting to think about dedicating some time to that kind of photography.

For those with experience in this type of photography, and taking into consideration that I am using a Nikon D7000:

  1. Which is the ideal lens (or lens+teleconverter combination) for this ?
  2. And which would be the minimum lens requirements for this type of photography?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Regards, João.
