Re: RX100 Fragile battery door lock

I've not yet had the parts break, it just nervous because the Sony RX100 USB flap is substantially flimsier than the same USB & HDMI flaps on Canon cameras.

And on that note, how come Canon cameras have the sensibility to place both the USB and HDMI ports under the same flap? Why does the Sony RX100 have the HDMI port placed directly behind the tripod mount, such that the HDMI cable cannot be connected when the RX100 is on a tripod? It is so ridiculous, if the HDMI port was connected, the RX100 cannot stand on a table top; it must lie forwards with the lens on the table, or lie backwards with the LCD facing the table - smart one Sony!

Furthermore, having two separate flaps for the USB and HDMI port makes the manufacturing costs higher for the RX100, and having two small flaps for the USB and HDMI is one reason why the flaps are so small and flimsy. If we have one large flap containing the two, the large flap is much more robust, and one large flap reduces the manufacturing costs, and we can access the USB/HDMI ports while the RX100 is on a tripod...
