Nikon TC-14E II
I'm going on safari in Tanzania in mid-December. I have a D7000, and I've already bought a AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm 3.5-5.6G ED VR lense that I've been trying out and has been working beautifully. Can I pair this with the TC-14E II 1.4x Teleconverter to get some further reach? I realize that I'll lose a full stop, but is this a viable alternative to going to a longer (and heavier) lense for wildlife shooting on the Serengeti? Thanks for your help!!!
Kevin, for such an expensive trip, you'll kick yourself for not having a better lens. Get a 300/4 to use with your 1.4x at least, as well as some steady support if you don't already have it. Even an old used version will do if that's all you can afford.
