Also, I have heard Sony leses are costlier than Nikon/Canon, so what could be initial lens options?

The "easy choice" set of primes (35mm f1.8, 50mm f1.8 & 85mm f2.8) all perform well and are great value. For tele-zooms the 55-200mm is well regarded and the new 55-300mm has good reviews.

The main Sony weakness is the lack of a decent ultra-wide but there are excellent options from Sigma, Tamron & Tokina.

If you don't mind second hand lenses there is an extensive selection of Minoltas to choose from.

Some Sony lenses do cost more than the Canikon equivalents but that's because they are (arguably) better
