Re: NX new firmware

Interesting point about processing power. Has Samsung ever revealed which chip is powering the NX cameras? Samsung is of course a well respected chip maker so I'd assume it's one of their own chips, possibly an Exynos, or perhaps something completely different. Anyway, with more computing power one must usually expect more battery power as well. If Samsung were to go with a more power hungry chip we'd then need to also expect shorter battery life or bulkier batteries. I'm guessing Samsung is trying to balance things out as best they can. I like that the NX battery is small and compact but the down sides are that it doesn't last as long and may be unsuitable for more powerful chips.

One good bit of news is that the trend with chip manufacturers is to reduce the die size of the chips every year or two, which decreases the power consumption. Manufacturers typically offset that by increasing performance. So we can probably assume the NX battery capacity to stay about the same but with time performance will continue to go up.
